Kawai Pianos In Houston

Kawai pianos are very good. They are used by many teachers and professional musicians worldwide. The only thing better than a nice, new Kawai piano is a pristine used one for (often) half the price. The people that learn this the hard way are the proud parents that try to sell the new piano in a few years if their child quits piano lessons. Once a piano is used, the age is not that important. A three-year-old piano sold used often will not bring much more than a pristine used piano twenty years old! Now they realize they should have purchased it used for way less money.
Most people do not understand that quality acoustic pianos have a useful life expectancy of 80 to 100 years. Years ago I noticed that a boat manufacturer’s (I am a sailor) toughest competitor is its own used boats! Fiberglass never wears out. What they do is make the new models six inches longer and offer upgraded this and that.
Unfortunately, piano manufacturers cannot do that. They cannot add a few notes or put racing stripes on them. Honestly, trying to convince people to spend twice as much for a new piano than the same instrument used in pristine condition, mostly involves all manner of imaginary stories about how this piano was made for this climate and that piano was made for that climate (hogwash)! The only way dealers of new Kawai pianos can justify your paying way more for a new piano is to try to make you afraid. Normally, the phrase used is, ”You don’t want to buy a gray market piano,” [delivered in hushed and frightening tones]. It really just means a piano originally sold new in Japan.
